01. THE PROBLEM
Rural depopulation is a fact in Spain. Villagers leave for the larger cities in a steady trickle. This is shown by the statistics: in the last two decades, the population of municipalities of one thousand inhabitants or less has lost 142,000 inhabitants. It is the equivalent of more than 140 towns that have been left deserted. This type of locality has gone from concentrating 4% of the population in 2000 to 3.1% in 2018. Meanwhile, the population of cities such as Madrid or Barcelona has grown dramatically by incorporating immigrants from rural areas of Spain
The fact thatĀ 90% of the population lives in 30% of the territory, as in Spain, is an organizational problem for public administrations. Among the consequences of the rural exodus to the cities is the saturation of public services, pressure on house prices and a greater tendency towards uncontrolled urbanism.

02. RESEARCH
For the purpose of this project we will focus on the final user as a person who works remotely from urban places. We want to know more about the reasons that impulse the user to live in a city, rather than a rural place.

USER SURVEYS
We conducted a survey to 54 users that currently work remotely from big cities
85,5%
Can work remotely from everywhere in Spain
75%
Would work from a place different than the current work location
61,6%
Don't move out because of Covid restrictions and uncertain future about going back to office

INTERVIEWS
Qualitative data
We interviewed 10 people to know more about the reasons of living in a city, rather than a rural place or small town.
Living in the village makes me feel more isolated and loose contact with family and friends.
R. Acosta
I wouldn't mind to go and work from a rural place but I need all equipments to feel comfortable to perform my work, such as good Wifi connection, an office chair and desk.
M. Sanchez
When the pandemiaĀ started, me and my partner went to the house we have in Villarta (Ciudad Real). The experience was good, however we missed people at our age to socializeĀ with.

03. IDEATION
We created an affinity diagram with the main problems found through the surveys and interviews and group ideation with proposals to solve the main problems. We separated the ideas into possible, impossible, innovative and conservatives.

LO-FI WIREFRAMES
After the ideation phase we started with the first low-fi wireframes to test with users
HI-FI WIREFRAMES
Following tests with potential users we developed Hi-fi wireframes

04. PROTOTYPE
After several versions andĀ usability tests we present the final version, it is an app where you can explore the best villages to work from and list the available workplaces to book anytime.
